Emir Sanusi And President Buhari Meet At Aso Rock Villa

1 minute read

Sanusi was not pretty much favoured by Goodluck Jonathan, the immediate past president of the country, after he had uncovered serious corruption allegations while acting as the head of the Central Bank of Nigeria. He was quickly sacked from the position, which move was believed to be not unconnected with the scandalous anti-corruption letter. However, Jonathan never admitted the link saying that Sanusi had been fired over unprofessionalism.
Now the Emir seems to be enjoying warm relationships with the incumbent leader, President Buhari.
Even before the general elections, Buhari congratulated Sanusi, who became the new Emir of Kano, on assuming the duties and urged him to support the government in the fight against terrorism.
“I believe more and more of those states began to feel that sense of not feeling the federal presence and not feeling the impact of democracy in their pockets and I think it is extremely important for people to connect with the government and when you have such conditions after 16 years of democracy, it was natural that people would want to have a change and I think this is basically what has happened.”
Barely a month after Buhari’s victory, Sanusi paid a courtesy visit to the president-elect to congratulate him.
Last week Sanusi expressed confidence that President Buhari was able to tackle corruption in the country and change things for the better.
Yesterday, there was another encounter of the two seniors: a spiritual leader and a political leader. See the photos below:
