As Nigeria marks 100 years as a nation, Nigerians in the US will be
celebrating this milestone with a 2-day line up of centenary events
scheduled to take place in New York City from September 26th – 27th,
2014.
The event line up kicks off on Friday, September 26, 2014 with panel
sessions and a keynote address, followed by the official centenary
awards ceremony on Saturday, September 27, 2014. The overall goal of the
Nigeria Centenary US Awards (NCUSA) is to recognize and acknowledge
Nigerians in the US – individuals, charity organizations, professional
associations etc. – who help to put a positive light on the nation.
Through contributions to their communities (both here in the US and back
home in Nigeria), achievements in their fields, causes they champion
for the betterment of the greater good, and their general desire for the
growth and advancement of Nigeria backed with actions and sacrifices,
these people make us proud to be Nigerians; and for this they will be
celebrated.
In line with the centenary mark, 100 awards for Outstanding Nigerian in
the US will be handed out across the following categories –
Media/Entertainment, Charity Organizations, Science and Technology,
Entrepreneurship, Youth/Women Empowerment, Sports, and Public Service.
Nominations are still being accepted via the form on the NCUSA site:

recipients and more event details will be unveiled in the coming weeks.
