The former Head of State, General Yakubu Gown has backed President Muhammadu Buhari's statement by insisting that the unity of Nigeria is not negotiable, while keeping Nigeria as one is a task that must continue.
Speaking at the grand finale of Army Day Celebration in Gusau, Zamfara State, Gowon, said keeping Nigeria one is a task that must continue to be done, and expressed the disappointment that in the past the insurgents were humiliating the national army in the battle field in the North East.
“The insurgents in the North East were degraded and are now on the run after the country witnessed a change in both political and military leadership,” Gowon said, and called on the army to look after the families of the officers and men who lost their loved ones in the fight against Boko Haram.
